Privacy Policy

Introduction

At Zano Bay, we take your privacy seriously. This privacy policy outlines what information we collect, how we use it, and the steps we take to protect your data.

Zano Bay is a decentralized, non-custodial platform designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not facilitate, mediate, or oversee transactions between users. Zano Bay provides open-source infrastructure that empowers individuals to engage in peer-to-peer commerce directly with one another. We neither control nor are responsible for how users interact with each other on the platform.

We operate in full compliance with applicable laws and expressly prohibit the use of Zano Bay for any illegal or prohibited activities.

Disclaimer

Zano Bay is a neutral communications interface. It does not act as a broker, agent, or intermediary for any transaction conducted between users. By using the platform, users agree to comply with all applicable laws in their jurisdiction and bear full responsibility for their actions.

We do not endorse, moderate, or supervise user-generated content or listings. Zano Bay cannot verify the legality of any goods or services listed and assumes no liability for user behavior or content.

We strictly prohibit the listing, promotion, or sale of illegal goods or services, including but not limited to narcotics, weapons, counterfeit items, and other illicit materials. Users found in violation may be permanently banned from the platform.

Data We Collect

Zano Bay respects user privacy and does not collect or log IP addresses. We do not use analytics or tracking technologies to monitor user behavior.

We only store the following information:

  • User Information: Username, hashed password, optional email (for password recovery only), avatar, bio, Zano address, and PGP public key
  • Listings Information: Title, price, category, photo, reviews, and comments
  • Order Information: Product info, buyer/seller/mediator usernames, order status, Zano address and amount, PGP-encrypted order notes, and encrypted shipping details (if applicable)
  • Message Information: Sender/recipient, timestamp, and PGP-encrypted content

Note: PGP-encrypted data cannot be read by our servers. All sensitive content remains fully private and accessible only to the intended recipient.

How We Use Your Data

Collected data is used exclusively to provide and improve platform functionality. Specifically, we use your data to:

  • Manage user accounts
  • Display user listings
  • Enable communication between buyers and sellers
  • Facilitate escrow-based smart contract interactions
  • Maintain and improve platform performance

We do not use user data for advertising or marketing, nor do we share or sell data to third parties.

Your Privacy Rights

Users maintain full control over their data and may:

  • Delete their account at any time
  • Remove listings
  • Erase private messages
  • Anonymize order history
  • Update or modify profile details

No KYC (Know Your Customer) process is required to use the platform. Email is entirely optional and only used for password recovery if provided.

Privacy Protection Measures

Zano Bay integrates multiple privacy-enhancing technologies:

  • End-to-end PGP encryption for private messages and order notes
  • Multisig wallets are generated client-side, never by the server
  • No collection of identifying metadata such as IP addresses or device info
  • Pseudonymous usage, with the option to use temporary or throwaway accounts

We recommend users take additional precautions such as:

  • Accessing the site via Tor or a VPN
  • Keeping local wallet and encryption tools secure
  • Avoiding unencrypted communication of personal details

Payment Privacy

Zano Bay does not process, store, or interact with user payments. All financial activity occurs directly between users on the Zano blockchain:

  • We do not hold user funds or private keys
  • We do not process transactions or take fees
  • We cannot access or decrypt any multisig data
  • We are not a party in any financial transaction on the platform

All payment data is encrypted and shared directly between parties.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect user data. However, no system is 100% secure. Users accept responsibility for securing their own devices, wallets, and encryption tools.

In the event of a security incident, we will notify users as appropriate and take reasonable steps to mitigate any potential damage.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page, along with the updated "last modified" date.
